{Last Clinic Day!!!}

I can't believe it!!!  I never thought this day would come!!  Today wasn't too terrible, but not as relaxed as I was picturing for some reason.  Clinic wasn't too bad...kinda boring :)  We just went over emergency procedures, clinic assistant duties, and TalEval grading, etc.  Then we took our Clinic Manual Test, which wasn't terrible, but a little more in depth than I was expecting.  No big deal though.  We also had to fill out a sheet for a reflection on our real patient day.  I also had my Radiology practical exam.  It was a bit stressful in one area especially, but I think I did okay.  I just hate the pressure of being tested!  I hope I did good!!  We shall see!  One piece of good news....we don't have to come to school on Jan. 2 because public transportation is not going that day!  Yahoo!!  That means we don't have to see an actual patient until the following Monday instead of our first week back!  I just can't believe next semester is already almost here.  I hope I survive!

{REAL Pt. day!}

Well folks, the big day came and went, just like that!  I was pretty nervous all weekend and had a hard time falling asleep last night.  I woke up super early and got to clinic way early to get everything all set up.  My awesome hubby Matt came up and was my first victim. :)  I so appreciate him taking time out of his busy day to support me!  Everything went well and was not too terrible.  I was only able to get through the OD and x-rays.  I was so hoping to be able to scale a quad, but my OD check seemed to take forever, and I wasn't signed up for x-rays till about 10:00, so I felt like I was waiting to get those done.  At least I didn't have any retakes.  Wahoo!!  Overall, I felt like today was a really good learning experience and a good refresher for how to start an appt. from scratch.  I can't say that I'm less stressed about next semester, but I have a feeling that I'll get through it, just like everyone else! :)  I just need to stay positive and pray that I can find enough patients to fill my schedule.  I can't believe that we are almost done with clinic this semester!  But I'm not sad--just very excited to have a nice long Christmas break!  Can't wait!!!

{Mock Pt. Day 4}

Today I was the pt. once again for Marie.  It went really well and she didn't even hurt me once!  Yahoo!  She is awesome!  She was speedy and got done really quickly.  After I was done, I passed off my sharpening PE!  That's it for PEs folks! (Well...at least for this semester).  I cannot believe how fast this semester went!  Next time is the real test.....REAL patients.  AAAH!  At least it's my husband, so he has to be nice! :)  Well, until then!

{Mock Patient Day 3}

Today I got to be the patient!  It was so nice to just sit and relax and not have to worry about passing anything off.  Marie was my operator today and did a great job!  It's good to be the operator, and then sit back and be the patient and go over everything again.  Such a good review!  Today was our last lab day in Radiology.  I can't believe it! I just can't believe that we see our first real pt. on Monday.  I'm excited and nervous!  Now I get to go home and study my brains out for Anatomy tomorrow.  School is almost over and I'm so happy about that, except that means that 2nd semester is quickly approaching and I'm scared to death.  Peace out!

{Mock Pt. Day 2!}

I have loved this week in clinic.  I was so stressed out and nervous for nothing!  Today, Marie was my pt. again and was awesome!  Today I finished the last two quads I needed to do...UL, LL...sel pol, df, and fl.  I was a little nervous again to start scaling, especially in an area that I haven't had much experience in.  There were definitely areas that were harder to navigate, but I feel like it went pretty well!  I did poke Marie and make her bleed in one area, but she didn't even jump.  It wasn't until I saw the blood that I realized I had hurt her.  Sorry!  I got done pretty quickly, mostly because she had hardly anything to clean off, and got my scale check.  I did miss one little area on 21-M.  I could hardly feel it, but I got my 204S in there and scaled it off really quickly.  It's definitely going to be a challenge to be able to feel those teeny tiny deposits.  I had a really hard time feeling that with the explorer when Inst. Caldwell was going over it. Oh well, that will come soon enough!  I definitely need to take a little more time with exploring certain areas after I've finished probing, because I think I got a little too overexcited about getting done.  Ha!  Polishing went good, and flossing somebody else's teeth is extremely awkward I've decided!  Oh well, I did it and it all went pretty good!  I really enjoyed being able to put everything together and get a better idea of what it will be like next semester.  I'm very excited to be able to sit back and relax next week!

{Mock Pt. Day}

I was so stressed out last night and this morning prepping myself for this day.  I was just really nervous about scaling because we haven't done it very much and I just felt really inadequate.  As soon as I got into the groove with probing, I was feeling alright.  I was the operator for Marie today, and she was very patient and good to work on.  She had like zero calculus, so at least I got to practice my angulation and adaptation. :)  Today made me really excited for when we start to see patients.  I'm also very nervous to do it too because there is a lot to remember!  Well, Wednesday, we get to finish up our patient, then it's two clinic days of nothing but relaxing!  Can't wait!!

{Eaglesoft walkout, sharpening}

Today was a pretty good day, but crazy!  The first part, we went over again how to properly sharpen our instruments, which we learned a little in class.  Not too bad, just annoying!  Then we were shown how to do the walkout on Eaglesoft which was no biggie.  Then we were given a bit of time to pass of PEs.  Well, I was paired up with Marie, which was good!  I passed off my air/powder polish and fluoride PEs on her.  She didn't have anymore teeth to be sealed, so I did one on Candice.  It felt good to get all three done today.  Now there are only two more!  I can't believe it!  I never thought we would get through those PEs!  I'm excited/nervous for the next two weeks.  We will go through a "mock" appointment with our peers.  It will be fun to be able to just go for it without worrying about passing something off.  I am excited to finally be able to put it all together.  Then, it's the REAL patient day.  So exciting!
